R.I.P. FOLEY

In Honor of one of Mountain View Kids' Camp's most noble steeds, Foley.
At the age of 37 years old, she crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.
Never did her feet stumble with a child on her back nor did her manner change.
Foley was a beautiful horse inside and out.
She was a trustworthy mount for many a child.
Foley will be missed by many.

"A true horseman does not look at the horse with his eyes,
he looks at his horse with his heart."

The Rainbow Bridge For Horses

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.

They trot through the grass without even a care,
til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.

For just at that second, there's no room for remorse.
As they see each other...one person...one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past.
The time of their parting os over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over...together.

Here is a website that deals with the loss of an equine loved one.  Please visit and light a candle in Foley's memory and maybe write a story on her behalf.  http://hoofbeats-in-heaven.com/

  Don't Mourn For Me

Don't mourn for me

Dear owner, kind and true.

I know that you will miss me

As I will also think of you.

We shared so many secrets:

those you whispered in my ear.

I've kept those secrets for you

lest anyone would hear.

And in return you 've kept me

from being turned out in the cold.

You've fed, watered, and cared for me

while we both grew old.

But God had called and needs me;

He says that it is time

I claim that sweet reward

in a kinder, green clime.

He promises sweeter clover,

clear water, rich and pure.

I'll never have to suffer

from wounds humans cannot cure.

I'll romp and play all day

with others he has called hither.

I'll have so many new friends

that will scratch upon my wither.

I'll be watching out for you

when comes your judgement day

and together towards the pearly gates

we again will ride away!
